International human rights documentary films were introduced amid last weekend’s film festival to the local audience at the Mahasantisukha Buddha Sasan Centre in Yangon. The film festival covers five documentaries from Malaysia, China, Czech Republic, and India, including Please Vote for Me, a documentary about the election of a 3rd-grade class in an elementary school in China. The four other films are Best-lah Punk and Hak Dina-fikan, The Power of the Powerless and Cowboys in India.

Representatives from international film festival organisations such as the Freedom Film Festival, the One World Human Rights Film Festival, and Film South Asia held questions-and-answers session after each screening.

The introduction of the films is to acquaint Myanmar filmmakers with how human rights documentaries are being made worldwide and prepare them for the Human Rights Film Festival (Myanmar), which will be held in June next year, according to Min Htin Ko Ko Gyi, the organiser of the film festival.
