The singer and actress Jane Birkin, in connection with several human rights organizations (including Amnesty International, the Human Rights League ...) organised a silent evenign, on October 6, from 21 hours to 23 hours.

Together with Jane Birkin, artists posed for photographers : Marion Cotillard, Catherine Deneuve, Arielle Dombasle, Zazie, Nicole Garcia, Agnès Jaoui, Charlotte Rampling, Jacques Higelin, Charles Berling, Arthur H, Antoine De Caunes, Bernard Lavilliers, Vincent Delerme, Michel Piccoli, Alain Chamfort, Etienne Daho, Jean-Michel Ribes...

Mrs. Anne Hidalgo, First Deputy Mayor of Paris, and Pierre Schapira, Deputy for International Relations, stressed the commitment of the City for the Burmese people and its struggle for democracy, especially with Mrs. Aug San Suu Kyi - an Honor Citizen of the City. Mrs Hidalgo also indicated support of the City to Zarganar.

An NGOs representative expressed that more than 2,100 Burmese citizen are now in prison for political reasons. Some for very long periods. They are rappers, journalists, writers, bloggers, activists ... Once again, Zarganar was quoted, as well as the political activist Mie Mie, adopted by Amnesty Paris 5th arrondissement. The candles were lighted, and silence was done under the large portrait of the Lady of Rangoon.
