Main missions are :

  • The organization of examinations
  • Initial Training: « student judges »
  • The In-service training of judges and public prosecutors. All judges and public prosecutors are entitled to a minimum of 5 days’ training per year.
  • The International department, including assistance for the creation of judicial training institutes

The ENM responds to multilateral financing in the field of judicial training and governance. These projects can be divided into 5 main areas of expertise:

  • support for training institutions for magistrates,
  • human rights and the basic principles,
  • the training of trainers and management of human resources,
  • the administration of jurisdictions and the modernisation of justice,
  • good governance and the strengthening of the rule of law.

For the implementation of multilateral programmes, the ENM regularly calls on French and foreign experts. It uses a pool of more than 2 000 experts consisting of magistrates, alumni of the ENM (members of the Court of Appeal, judges, prosecutors, inspectors of judicial services, magistrates detached and made available), retired magistrates, university professors, consultants and members of the liberal professions, civil servants, foreign professors or consultants
